1 |  how is it already the end of october?  do you know what you’re doing for halloween?  a trip to canada’s wonderland is in order for a good scare and anyone looking for spooky inspiration should visit martha stewart.

2 | having only just learnt how to make poached eggs (thanks Adrienne!), i decided to keep practicing and made them for brunch this saturday for some visiting friends.  poached eggs on top of blanched asparagus – along side roasted potatoes, tomatoes, onions and garlic drizzled in niagara grapeseed oil and chopped fresh oregano.  all from the farmers market – of course.  i love breakfast food so much! and when it’s also 100% local – happy happy joy joy!

3 | found this article on home renovation to be rather interesting.  i dream of the day that i own a house.  one that needs lots of tender loving care.  one with an open door policy.

sunday snapshot – strawberry snacking.

if you’re lucky, you might be able to grab a few more strawberries before they’re all gone from your local farmers’ market.  strawberry season in ontario is two short months – june and july.  i enjoyed many a pint this season, though never had them around long enough to do much baking.

there’s the snacking at the market.

the snacking while unpacking what you purchased from the market.
the husband realizes there are strawberries in the house – snacking.
you get the idea.

by the time i think about making them into anything, i’ve ate them all.  plump, juicy, succulent strawberries.  until next season.

sunday snapshot – seconds before the storm.

toronto saw a wicked storm come rolling in a few days ago.  this is one of the only two photos i took before bolting off of the rooftop to safety from the wind and rain.  oh boy did it ever come fast!

sunday snapshot – a photo of martha stewart.

martha stewartshe couldn’t have been any closer to me – that is – unless we were hugging or something.

martha stewart made an appearance during the alt nyc conference i was attending on thursday.  the entire audience immediately becoming starstruck.  it is rather funny to see a room full of woman go silent in awe of her.  but – can you blame them?!  it’s martha (insert bad word of choice) stewart!
